Exploding Type in Cinema4D 3D text and deformers for beginners By Masan Yi & Ko Maruyama Some clients want their product to shatter the competition, literally.  This sometimes means blowing up text.  While 2D shatters may be simple, they sometimes offer little options for depth and texturing.  A true 3D package, like Maxon's Cinema 4D provides tools to complete the job quickly and easily.  If you're new to Maxon's Cinema 4D software, this will help you to get your bearings in text, extrusions and deformers all at once.

This tutorial is for novice Cinema 4D users to easily take you through the process of blowing up geometry.

Creating Text Splines

To create type in Cinema 4D, you'll need to use the Text Spline tool.  It can be found under the spline tools in the standard tool bar.  Once you select the tool, type the phrase into the dialogue box found in the Attributes window (this should become active once you select the Text tool - also found under the file pull-down menu: Objects->Spline Primitive->Text).

Insider #149 - Game Demographics
The blood, gore, adrenalin challenges that were unveiled at E3 and enjoyed at ComicCon are fun to look at, easy to hold but are they really the games people want to plunk down their credit cards to own or rent time with? Seems as though the investors, the players who control the controllers have a different idea of a "good" game than the kids who develop them. While mobs of people play educational, informational, stimulating games our kid huddles in his room and mumbles "The Few, The Proud, The Gamers." Read More
